Beloved Sister Lost to Lupus

It is with immense sadness that we announce the death of our dearest sister. For personal reasons, she specifically requested that we withhold publishing her name from any announcements, so here we will refer to her only by her childhood nickname “CeCe”. CeCe passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of January 28, 2022 following a 5-year-long battle with severe Lupus. She is survived by her fiancé, mother, father, sisters, brothers, nephew, nieces, extended family, and beloved pets. In lieu of a funeral or public service, we are gathering donations to install a commemorative bench at the William F. Lede K9 Off-Leash Dog Park in Leduc, AB.

 

CeCe was a strong, proud Dakota woman that was filled with love for her family and all animals. Her illness caused significant mobility challenges, but she loved to take her dogs Khaleesi and BooBoo to the dog park in Leduc whenever she was able to. Even when at her most unwell moments, all she wanted was to be able to take the dogs for a walk. It was her wish to forgo any traditional gravestone and be memorialized in the one place where she felt such joy. It was important to her that people have a place to sit and enjoy dogs playing, so a bench placed in the shade is the only marker that she wanted.

 

Cece’s love of animals went beyond enjoyment at the dog park; she had strong adoration for old or sick animals and was a devoted home to her elderly cat Long Hair. Therefore, any donations that exceed our goal will be donated in her name to Tails of Help charity. Tails of Help provide aid to low-income pet owners that would otherwise need to surrender their pets due to financial difficulty in covering veterinary expenses.

We will forever miss our sister, but we are grateful that her suffering has ended.
