Bemus Point Fire Department Water Division

Living or vacationing near Chautauqua lake is like a dream and keeping the lake safe is very important to all of us. We at The Fish restaurant in Bemus Point NY have raised money for our volunteer fire department by hosting the Catalina Wine Mixer for the last 2 years. This year we want to raise the bar and try to make a difference with your help and have a 3 day event with a theme also around the movie Step Brothers. We will have giveaways and of course live music on all 3 days including the Nerds Gone Wild. Although this event is a very fun we use all the money received in donations to help our local volunteer fire department respond to serious lake emergencies that sadly occur too often.

BPFD lake division has a 22' Boston Whaler used for open water responses, and a 20' Diamondback Airboat mainly used for Ice rescue events during the winter season.

They assist all Fire departments on or around Chautauqua Lake, and the Sheriff's office by being dispatched to all Lake emergencies that require fire department response. Because Bemus is located in the middle of the Lake, they are best suited to respond anywhere on the lake in a timely manner. Other departments around the lake may have water boats to cover their districts, but Bemus is the only department who has equipment that can respond year round to any Lake emergency.

With having equipment requires upkeep and maintenance. Over the past several year they have been raising money to build a new storage building that can house all of the Boat Division's equipment. The building has been built, but the funds are depleted. They still need concrete flooring and an overhead door to finish up the project before winter the $6000 will go a long way to finish the project and keep the lake safe for all of us to enjoy.
