Ben Becomes an Ironman!

Hi, I’m Ben Levesque. I’m from Biddeford, ME, and I’m currently in my sophomore year at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH.
This page goes towards raising race dues, travel and lodging expenses, and associated costs to participate in the 2022 IRONMAN Supersapiens World Championships in St. George, Utah, on May 7, 2022. The race is a full-distance triathlon: a 2.4 mile swim segment, then a 112 mile bike segment, and finally a 26.2 mile run segment. I’m excited to have the opportunity to compete in this world-class event; I’m looking to raise funds in order to ease the financial burden of the race.
I chose to participate in this event to spread my belief that anyone and everyone has the ability to live a healthy and active life.

In June 2018, I was 220 lbs. and I realized I needed to get serious with my health. Over the next several months, I investigated proper nutrition and started going to the gym (where I worked part time for another two years). In the summer of 2020, I was encouraged to join my high school’s cross-country team having never run before—by the end of the season, I’d shaved 3 mins. off of my 5k time.
After a brief hiatus from running in spring and summer 2020, I started my freshman year at Dartmouth. Soon after, I joined the Dartmouth Triathlon Team, with whom I have learned to cycle and swim. In August of this year, I competed in the Timberman half-Ironman in Laconia, NH.

All things considered, I came from little in terms of strength or performance and I have since done things I didn’t conceive as possible. With the support of my high school coaches, I ran for the first time. With the resources and support of the Dartmouth Triathlon Team, I began cycling and swimming, and competed in a half-Ironman. I’ve never been without a network of support.
Now, I am looking for that same support in this endeavor. This event symbolizes that same belief—that anyone can bolster their health and fitness, provided a network of support. I hope you will be able to support my efforts now, and I appreciate anything you are able to contribute, regardless of amount.
In advance of booking plane tickets and lodgings, I especially appreciate anything you are able to contribute before Jan. 01, 2022.
I provide updates about training progress and milestones to social media, so you can tag along on my journey to St. George and the Ironman World Championships. Thank you so much for your support!
