Ben needs a wheelchair accessible van!

Hello we are Matt & Katie Stober and we need your help.

Nine years ago we were blessed with a little boy, Ben (he's that good looking red-head in the picture)!! At the age of five Ben was diagnosed with a rare disease called Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Over the past year we have seen a steady decline in Ben's mobility, most notably within the last six months. In most cases, this decline happens a little more gradually, but unfortunately in Ben's case he went from walking to needing a wheelchair full time in just a matter of weeks. We knew this day would come , we just did not expect it to come so soon.

Ben's needs have changed dramatically from what they were just a year ago. And the needs of our family have changed with them.

Ultimately our goal is a simple one; to be able to provide Ben with a greater sense of freedom and independence in his day to day life. One way we can give that to him is by purchasing a wheelchair accessible van which will allow us to transport Ben's power wheelchair wherever we go. But therein lies the problem. Wheelchair accessible vans are expensive (these conversions alone can run upwards of $30k). We've tried several times now to purchase one on our own but because of the way financing works with these types of vehicles, we were met with financial obstacles we could not overcome on our own.

That's where you and your donation comes in. Being able to outright purchase a wheelchair accessible van would be a huge blessing and take a great deal of stress from our lives as our family transitions in to this next phase.
