Ben Rossi's Mitzvah Project Fundraiser
Tax deductible
“Mitzvah,” Hebrew for “commandment,” is often translated as, “good deed.” As part of my bar mitzvah preparations, I am exploring the Jewish value to “feed the hungry” (ma’akhal re’evim) by volunteering weekly at FoodLink. I have learned that nearly 19 percent of Massachusetts residents live with food insecurity, and more than 80 percent of Americans waste food every day. The more food that gets rescued, the more people can eat! Because of my interest and enjoyment with cooking and baking, this project means a lot to me. I want other people to have access to good food, and to let less food go to waste.
In addition to volunteering, I'm also raising money to benefit FoodLink, Inc. Any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution!
More information about FoodLink, Inc.: Food Link is food rescue non-profit that reduces wasted food by using the power of volunteers to collect fresh food from food retailers & distribute it to local agencies. 100+ volunteers collect & distribute 1,000 lbs (360,000 lbs/yr) of food daily to alleviate hunger & support environmental sustainability. We partner with 12 local grocery & prepared food stores to utilize high-quality fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, dairy, bread and prepared foods that would otherwise be wasted.
