Benefit for Catie Wortman

Hi, as many of you know, Catie and her partner, Holly were involved in a head on collision while transporting a patient to Novant Regional Thursday, August 3rd. She sustained injuries to her leg that have rendered her unable to work at this time. We are unable to determine the extent of the injury and pray for the best outcome. She will be out of work until she is able to recover from the physical and emotional trauma that she has endured since the accident. We are hoping to be able to raise funding to help her out while awaiting Workman’s Compensation to kick in.

As you can imagine, Catie is pushing through and can often be stubborn when it comes to taking care of herself. We are just hoping to raise enough so that she can give herself permission to take the rest that she needs, and receive all of the treatment required both physically and emotionally.

Catie is a loyal and dedicated AEMT who’s main concern from the moment of impact was to get to her partner. Her quick thinking, clear mind and her knowledge of what she needed to do is credited for helping Holly receive the immediate care needed to assist in her survival. Catie has always wanted to help others and plans on continuing to do so as a member of Pender EMS.

Catie asks that positive thoughts be sent to her partner Holly, as her road ahead is going to be a long and difficult one. We appreciate everyone’s support, the love of her community, co-workers and her extended family with Pender EMS and Fire. We will be forever grateful to all of the first responders that day from Pender EMS, Pender Fire, Burgaw Fire, Burgaw PD, PCSD, NHCo, SHP, the doctors, nurses, techs and all of the ER staff members that helped her they day. Thank you to all of the people who helped to keep her safe on the side of the road as well. We love sand cherish all that you have done and will continue to do for her.
