Benefit for Chelsea & Scott Brantley

Emergencies happen, and the age old saying goes, "when it rains, it pours"...

Well, for Chelsea & Scott Brantley - the floodgates are open and the storm seems too much to bear right now.

Chelsea & Scott's story begins 3 years ago when they started dating. Both had been through divorces prior to dating and this is why they both said they'd never marry again. Neither expected the Lord to work on their hearts the way He has thus far. He began to soften their emotions and slowly but surely, their love grew into something they neither expected nor could they deny. Everyone around them can see the way they have grown to look at each other, their love is undeniable. It has convinced even the nay-sayers that their love is true. Their children have bonded as well. All of this is why, on their third anniversary of Wednesday, September 7th 2022, Scott decided to propose to Chelsea and ask her hand in marriage. She accepted! They've recently bought some land together and have decided to build their life together as a family. True happiness had finally been achieved after so many years! It seemed as if everything was finally coming together beautifully...a dream come true!

But then, the unthinkable happened.

Scott and several of Chelsea's friends, relatives, etc. had noticed that she had not been acting right for a couple of weeks. She had been sleeping more than she ever had, and it was hard to wake her up. She also was making little mistakes when texting that were out of character for her, things weren't making sense, and the typos were getting awful. She was beginning to be a little different at work as well, and coworkers noticed she wasn't acting like herself. She had been having horrible migraines for about 2 weeks prior. She was also losing strength in her left side and having trouble doing most tasks that required both hands, such as driving. They finally decided to take her to the emergency room at Fairview Park Hospital 3 days after the proposal on Saturday, September 10th, 2022.

The ER did scans and found an egg-sized mass on her brain, and immediately transported her to Augusta University Medical Center to be evaluated and consulted by a neurosurgeon. The tumor had been there for anywhere from 2 weeks to 8 weeks. They needed to act fast to remove the tumor and surgery was completed on Tuesday, September 13th, 2022. The surgeon seemed very pleased with the results of the surgery, however, he and his team feel that it's necessary (as a precaution) for her to complete chemo and radiation to make sure any microscopic particles are not there after surgery. She was sent home from the hospital on Friday, September 16th, 2022.

Life changed as they know it. Everything that was perfect and right in the world has been completely unhinged and thrown into a spiral of questions, "why's" and "what-if's".

Chelsea is a travel nurse who had recently decided to switch insurances because she was shopping around for better rates, so unfortunately she doesn't have insurance right now. This is one of many financial hardships the couple is facing. The most apparent being - Chelsea is unable to work right now due to her recovery road left to travel. She's got to make sure she's doing well and has to have several more doctor's appointments in the very near future to determine the best course of action before she can return to work, and then she can't do the same type of work she was doing - ER travel nurse.

As if that wasn't enough financial stress, Scott just got word that the company he works for has decided to let him go because they are facing internal issues as well and can't keep him on as an employee right now. So now, Scott is unemployed, Chelsea is unemployed, and she doesn't have insurance. The bills are undoubtedly beginning to pile up. They are facing incredible hardships and won't be able to make their payments on several things if they neither have any type of income during this time. They are at risk of losing their land, the place they plan to build their life together. PLEASE COME TOGETHER AND HELP THIS NOT HAPPEN!!!

I said all of that to say what they are unwilling to say: THEY NEED OUR HELP.

Please, PLEASE, if you can find it in your heart to donate anything at all, anything to help them during this trying time, it would be so much appreciated. I know they won't come out and say it because they don't want to accept any type of handouts from folks that are also hurting (the entire community seems to be brokenhearted in some way or another for so many reasons)...but I can't think of any other way to help them better than to just ask our community to come together once more for these amazing folks we all know and love.

Thank you so very much in advance for your support. Please continue praying for Chelsea & Scott. Never cease. The Lord has them in His hands. We appreciate you all so very much.

"Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’"
