Benefit for Mark and Julia and the Asheville Guitar Bar
Donation protected
Mark and Julia Goldthwaite created the Asheville Guitar Bar in 2016. It was a unique listening room style venue where musicians and music lovers played, danced, shared food and friendship for over eight years. The AGB became the "living room" for many of its patrons, who gathered and became a family. My name is Ken. I was the primary audio/ video technician for the AGB. I set up all the PA system, lighting and cameras, and helped create the livestreams productions while managing the YouTube channel.
Like so many small businesses in Western North Carolina, the Asheville Guitar Bar was decimated in the flooding of hurricane Helene. Owners Mark and Julia Goldthwaite also recently began leasing the gallery space next door to the Asheville Guitar Bar. This was becoming a retail space for the AGB and a gallery for Julia’s lifetime of art work. To help understand the scope of the damage, flooding reached just below the ceiling of both the Asheville Guitar Bar and the adjoining space. They lost all their furniture, all bar equipment, the POS system, countless musical instruments, the entire PA system and lighting systems including microphones, cables and iPads. In addition, many of Julia’s artwork were severely damaged. They have a long road ahead and great losses to overcome.
All donations will support Mark and Julia to replace some of what they lost as they recover and look to the future.
