Benefit for Nadine Kramer
Donation protected
We are fundraising for a close friend and family member, Nadine Kramer. She has recently suffered a very serious health and financial crisis.
In 2017, Quad Graphics (formerly known as Brown Printing), located in Waseca, MN, closed for business. They were the largest employer in Waseca and Nadine had worked there for 27 years when the plant closed its doors. This unfortunate event hurt Nadine’s ability to keep up with her financial obligations.
Nadine started her search for a new job and has struggled to find a permanent position with any local company despite her excellent qualifications. She is a very hard worker and will show up every day and give 100% to the job. She was finally hired at Amesbury Truth in Owatonna and worked for them until she was laid off during COVID. She has continued the online job search and filled out many applications. This impersonal online application process and rejection can mess with one's self-esteem, but she hasn’t given up. In the meantime, Nadine has been working for an Owatonna Company for a year through a Temporary Service to pay her bills, with the hopes of eventually landing a full-time job with health insurance and benefits.
On April 25th Nadine left work early and went to Urgent Care in Owatonna with shortness of breath and pains in her chest. They discovered a problem with her heart and walked her to the ER. She was sent home with instructions to make a follow-up appointment with her primary doctor. She made her appointment for further testing, but that never happened because on May 5, 2022, Nadine was taken to the Waseca ER. The Waseca medical staff sent her via ambulance to St Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. Once there, she was diagnosed with having had a stroke. She was in the hospital for six days to recover from that stroke. While there, they also found that two parts of her heart were enlarged and that was treated with meds. She was set to follow up with a Cardiologist on July 12th. Nadine was released from Rochester and went home where she was doing better for a short time but then started to show serious symptoms again. She was taken to the ER, this time in Mankato, where they discovered Tylenol poisoning in her liver. She was very lucky they found it when they did. She was once again in the hospital for almost a week to help her liver recover. The plan is for her to go to a swing bed facility for a couple of weeks so she can work to improve her strength before going home.
This has been an extremely stressful time as Nadine is unsure when she will be able to go home and when she will be able to return to work. All the while, her monthly bills continue to roll in. With no medical insurance, several lengthy hospital stays and more appointments to come, we are hoping you’ll be able to help Nadine through this health and financial crisis. Any gift you can give would go a long way. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
