Benefit for The League of Independent Theatre

On December 21st, 2020, Crossing to Christmas - an original script written in the great tradition of Hallmark Christmas Movies - will be performed as an online reading in support of The League of Independent Theatre.  

It's been a hard year for everyone.  Independent theaters in NYC are no exception.  LIT is an organization made up of the cities indie theaters that aims empower, unify, and protect the voices and interests of those who work and enjoy independent theater across the five boroughs of NYC. 

This year one of LIT's main initiatives to #cancelrent.  Performance venues cannot earn revenue, but are still required to pay rents month after month.  As members of the United for Small Business NYC coalition, LIT is calling for the immediate freeze of commercial rents and mortgages for the duration of the COVID-19, including all phases of recovery.

Crossing to Christmas is an original screenplay by Alexander Kveton, written in the great tradition of made-for-tv holiday romances.  Directed by Annie Tippe (Octet – Lucille Lortel Award Winner) and produced by Alexander Kveton and Blaire O’Leary, Crossing to Christmas will be presented as an online Holiday Benefit Reading on Monday, December 21st. 

The cast includes Mara Wilson (Matilda, Welcome to Night Vale, BoJack Horseman, Big Hero 6: The Series), Varak Baronian (Water, Water Everywhere; Bang Bang Zoom), Christine Donnelly (Jessica Jones, Follies – Innovative Theater Award Best Ensemble), Jack Fellows (The Crucible, The Tempest), Vanessa Lynah (Water, Water Everywhere; Buffalo, Buffalo), Blaire O’Leary (Exquisite Corpse Company), Christina Elise Perry (Chain Theatre – Six Corners, The Dark Room), Mia SelbyMichal Vondel (Tramps, Shadow Puppet), Danny Wilfred (Cabaret - Highlands Playhouse, Sister Act - Westchester Broadway Theatre, Shrek - Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center), and Jeorge Bennett Watson (Luke Cage, The Wire, For Life, A Human Being, Of A Sort - The Williamstown Theater Festival).
 
All proceeds from our donation based tickets and this additional fundraiser will go toward The League of Independent Theatre.
