Benefit for Townie Books & Rumors Coffee
Donation protected
Townie Books, along with Rumors Coffee & Tea House, has been serving the Crested Butte community for the past 10 years. We are a place where people gather, meet, laugh, see old friends, meet new friends, and just connect. We rely on the foot traffic and synergy that bringing people together creates.
We believe in keeping our community safe during the Covid-19 crisis and therefore we will be closed to the public in order to do this. (You can still order over the phone or online!)
Our community has been amazing, supporting us through puzzle and book purchases for pick-up and home delivery. Without these orders, we would have been out of business immediately, so thank you!!
Unfortunately, we ordered enough books and retail items for what we thought would be our usual, busy spring break time for the entire month of March. This was obviously cut short and now we are left with the vendor bills.
What we are already doing to survive:
1) We have applied for the Payroll Protection Loan from the SBA to help keep our employees paid as much as we can. (pending)
2) Our landlord is working with us on a payment-deferral program to make sure we still have a space.
3) We are still doing curbside pick-up, local delivery and direct-to-home shipments in order to continue to generate some income and keep providing great reads and activities during this unique time.
What we need:
Our main book distributor, Ingram Book Group, is not working with us at all on our invoices, due now and at the end of April. They are the ones we count on to do the direct-to-home shipments and make sure we can restock the books that sell.
We owe them: $4,065.66 overdue
$ 8,177.82 by the end of the month
For a total of: $12,243.48
We owe other vendors, some of whom are working with us and some are not, another $12,000.
We are asking for $20,000 to pay off our vendors, so we can continue providing great books and puzzles, and be in good shape to keep going when we all come out of this.
Please check us out on Facebook and at www.towniebookscb.com for updates and to order books or puzzles.
We would like to offer another Thank You to those of our customers who have already been supporting us through book and puzzle sales! It has made all the difference!
