Help Bennett's parents with his medical bills

Allie Freund, Aaron Belzer, and their one-year-old son Bennett are a family in Idaho in need of our support.

Bennett suffered a brain hemorrhage in utero (before he was born) and has since been diagnosed with another extremely rare neurological condition. There are a select few physicians who specialize in this form of childhood epilepsy, and his complicated case is challenging even for the specialists. In his short year and a half of life, Bennett's parents have already taken him to hospitals in three different states to get him the combination of medical care he needs.

Through all this, Bennett continues to grow, charm, and surprise us each week with his abilities. He's a playful, musical, mischievous, determined little toddler who defies expectations.

Bennett has been through two extremely grueling courses of different drug treatments and has already had three brain surgeries in his life. His path forward involves a third grueling course of a new drug treatment and another possible brain surgery out of state.

This new prescription drug alone has an exorbitant cost, and getting insurance to cover Ben's extremely specialized care across state lines has proven to be a massive challenge of its own. In addition to the already accumulating and unpredictable future of medical bills and coverage, the mounting costs of sudden plane tickets, car rentals, hotels, and missed work is inescapable.

Bennett's parents, Allie and Aaron, are incredibly hardworking and devoted to helping him thrive. They should not be left to face so much expense for elements of Bennett's care that are so far out of their control, particularly while at the mercy of travel to whichever state has a hospital with the specialist they need.

Any support you can offer them will help. If we are fortunate enough to reach or surpass our fundraising goal, any excess funds will be saved toward Bennett's future medical expenses and ongoing supportive therapies.
