Bennies for Benjie

Hello, my name is Casey and sadly I am creating this GoFundMe to ask for help raising funds for my Husky Benjie’s medical bills. Earlier this month, a cancerous mass was found on his left thyroid that is causing hyperthyroidism. It would mean the world to me if you were able to donate a few dollars to help us pay for Benjie to have this life-saving surgery. Even just sharing this link would be so helpful to our family.

 

We rescued Benjie after he was abandoned by his original owner. A friend of a friend asked for our help in taking care of him, and as the months went by, they just never came back for him. Luckily, we were already in love with Benjie and our house felt more like a home with Benjie in it.

 

Earlier this month, a functional thyroid carcinoma (cancerous mass) was found on Benjie’s left thyroid during an ultrasound. Hyperthyroidism and thyroid carcinoma in dogs are very uncommon and cause weight loss, rapid breathing, rapid heart rate, decreased energy, and more serious issues if left untreated. The Internal Medicine veterinary specialists have recommended a CT scan and then surgically removing his left thyroid to help give him the best chance of long-term survival. Without treatment, Benjie will most likely only be with us for another 2 years at most, without much quality of life.

 

As all pet owners know, our dogs are our family. We are struggling with this diagnosis and the uncertainty of the future, but we are remaining hopeful that we can give Benjie the proper care he needs.
