Ben's 2020 Everest Climb

Hello!

If you're reading this it's probably because I've sent you a link, or you've followed the URL at the bottom of my email.

If you have come across this by chance, welcome!

If you know me well you'll know that in my spare time I'm an Alpinist (That's a fancy modern word for Mountaineer) and that I have climbed all over the globe in this mad pursuit.  I was a climber before I was a businessman, and many of the qualities I hold dear in business I have learned from climbing.  Things like determination, proper planning and conviction are all equally as important on a craggy cliff face as they are in the boardroom, or on the sales floors of our Clubs.

Since I was little I have harboured the desire to climb Everest, the highest mountain in the world.  Throughout my many trips to the Himalayas I climbed with Everest over my shoulder, dreaming of taking a shot at climbing the mountain myself.

So, since I'm not getting any younger and as my responsibilities are getting bigger I've decided that now is the time for action.

Every journey begins with a single step...

This amazing adventure will come in two parts!

Firstly I plan to attempt to climb the worlds 8th highest mountain, Manaslu.  At an altitude of 8165m Manaslu will be no walk over.

This trip, which I plan to take in September 2019 will be my first foray over 8000 meters which is where climbers enter the "Death Zone" where the human body is quite literally consuming itself in a bid to remain functional.  Climbing in the rarefied air is a challenge. It will be cold, it will be uncomfortable, and there will only be a third of the oxygen that there is at sea level.

This will be in preparation of the main event, because next, I plan to attempt Everest, in April 2020.

Why am I telling you all of this?

Because I need your support!  Those of you who know me will know that I'm a man of conviction, that once I commit myself to doing something that I always follow it though. I need your help to keep me on track, to ask me how my training is going, how the fundraising is getting on; to keep me on the straight and narrow.  By admitting to this I'm making myself accountable....

The other reason is to ask if you, as one of my closest, key suppliers or friend may be able to offer any support towards the funding of the two expeditions.  Climbing the highest mountains in the world is costly, and I'm looking to secure corporate sponsorship or individual pledges to directly offset my expedition costs, or help me buy some of the very expensive but essential items of high-altitude equipment I'll need on the trip.

Your logo on the summit of the world is not something that happens every day!

There are many ways that you can help fund my upcoming Manaslu and Everest Expedition but this first thing you need to ask yourself is - "What's in this for me?!"

Other than the warm feeling which comes with helping others realise their dreams there are other benefits of getting involved.

What I'm offering you is exposure.  Some of the items I am asking you to think about funding are going to be used on both trips, over a two year period.

This equipment will be used in some pretty gnarly, beautiful settings, and any image captured will be yours to use.

Are you and your Company adventurous? Do you like pushing limits?  Then why not align yourself with my adventure - let's do this together!

In addition you will have my gratitude and my full endorsement.  In this line of business that goes a long way....

If you are not satisfied that this will be of any value to you there's no need for you to read on.  I thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading this far.  Please don't forget to check back on me from time to time because remember that I'm relying on you to keep me accountable in this exciting adventure!

Lets get down to business!

I'm asking for financial support to stand on top of the world and to take you with me!

Headline Sponsorship of Everest - £40,000 GBP

That's a BIG ask, but if you don't ask....

As the headline sponsor of the Everest trip I can offer you the following amazing opportunities.

· Branding:  What a branding opportunity!  Use of Everest expedition pictures containing your logo and if successful your corporate flag planted on top of Everest by me and photographed for your promotional use.

· Acknowledgement of your name and logo in all printed and internet marketing, publicity materials, presentations and interviews about the climb.

· Your name and logo displayed prominently on my climbing gear (For more options regarding my gear please read on)

· If taking the full headline sponsorship package there exists an opportunity for you and a friend to travel to Everest Base Camp to meet with me, and to see the amazing Himalayas.

· Upon completion of the climb, by arrangement I can visit you and give a presentation for the company employees or clients.

Headline Sponsorship of Manaslu - £12,000 GBP

Don't be fooled into thinking that Manaslu is just a training peak!  This trip is an adventure in it's own right, and will offer it's own exposure.  As the headline sponsor of Manaslu you'll enjoy some of the same perks as the headline sponsor for Everest. Want to sponsor both? Let's talk!

If you're still interested in getting involved, but don't want to go for the BIG money options, then please read on because there exists an opportunity to sponsor my gear.

Sponsor my down suit! - £3000 GBP

This item of clothing is extremely specialist.  It is designed to be worn in some of the most inhospitable climates on the planet and is rated to go down to a chilly -50 degrees centigrade.  Filled with the finest down this is essentially a sleeping bag that you wear.

This will be my main outer garment when I am climbing high on the mountain, and therefore offers some amazing exposure if you were to sponsor the cost of it. The cost of sponsorship will include your Company logo displayed prominently on the chest of the suit.

Sponsor my high altitude boots! - £1500 GBP

In order for my feet to stay warm I need to invest in a specialist set of boots. the highest I have climbed up until now is just over 7000 meters, and my warmest pair of boots just won't cut it nearly 2000 meters higher. Included in the cost are specialist heated foot beds, which operate by battery to keep my feet warm and toasty!

Sponsor my insurance! - £1200 GBP

I would be a foolish Alpinist if I was to venture into the mountains without adequate rescue and medical insurance.  Rescue in Nepal and Tibet have come on leaps and bounds since I last climbed there, and helicopter evacuations are now possible to a certain extent.  This is specialist high altitude and remote area insurance, that will cover me for any eventuality.

Sponsor my high altitude gloves! - £350 GBP

Much like my feet, my hands require some specialist equipment.  At some of the temperatures expected it would be easy to lose fingers and toes to frostbite, something I certainly don't plan on doing!

Sponsor my high altitude summit pack! - £500

Up until now I am of the "fast and light" Alpinism school. This is where we pack everything into our small backpacks and we move as fast as we can to minimise exposure and danger.  Climbing 8000 meter mountains requires a lot more gear, and lots of load carrying. Therefore a new, larger backpack is needed.

Still a little rich for your blood?

That's cool.  Please sponsor what you can! Every single £1 raised is getting me closer to my dream of standing on the highest mountain on Earth.

Regardless of the amount, everyone who sponsors me will have their name added to a summit flag that I plan to carry to the roof of the world!  I will also send everyone who has donated regular text updates from the mountain (Sat Phone issues allowing!)

I'd be extremely grateful if you would consider supporting and joining me on this remarkable adventure!  If you are able to help please sponsor today!

Thank you!
