NEFBIH: 2022 Walk for Bosnia's First Baby Kitchen

Tax deductible
New England Friends of Bosnia and Herzegovina is excited to announce that we will be partnering with Project Bread for the 54th annual Walk for Hunger. While we are unable to partake on the official day, we would like to capture the spirit of the traditional event by raising funds to support the incredible work of organizations preparing meals for those in need. 90% of all donations from the registration will be made directly to Prva Baby Javna Kuhinja i Bosnian Baby Shop, the first baby soup kitchen serving Bratunac and Srebrenica in Bosnia. Since the war in Ukraine started, the amazing staff at Prva Baby have experienced extreme shortages and inflation, cutting the number of meals they can donate by half. With our support, Prva Baby will be able to ensure that their infant and youth community members have access to warm meals, which has been increasingly important as extremely scarce options have been available since the pandemic.

NEFBIH will also donate 10% of all proceeds to the largest hunger-relief organization in New England, The Greater Boston Food Bank. This organization distributed 117 million pounds of nutritious food across Massachusetts, helping families receive three meals a day while supporting healthy lifestyles. Finally, our team welcomes dry food donations for the Roxbury & Dorchester ABCD, a non-profit human services organization supporting low-income residents in the region. Due to ABCD servicing a primarily older population, their food bank requests we donate primarily dry and frozen foods, asking that we avoid all canned donations.

In addition to financially supporting this cause, we would also like this walk to serve as an opportunity to bring together our local community in a fun, outdoor setting. Organizing our annual walk is exceptionally meaningful for our team, as we can further our commitment to helping people in need while also honoring all of the individuals around the world that have survived, or are currently experiencing human rights abuses.

We would be honored if you register as a member of our team or make a small contribution to help us achieve our fundraising goal this year. Please join us to enjoy the beautiful scenery in Boston and support the fight against hunger in Bosnia!
