Bereaved family of Kris Young, who passed suddenly aged 41

Hi,

My name is Julia and I am Kris Young’s cousin. Kris’s mam Denise, and my mam Maureen are sisters, and our families grew up together in Washington. We spent many a summers at each other’s houses and at our Nana Gwen’s in Redhouse, and had so many laughs over the years. Growing older, you don’t get to see each other as much as your lives get busier and busier, especially as kids come along, but to say I am absolutely shocked and saddened by Kris’s sudden death is an understatement.

I live in Perth, Australia and have come back for a short visit to attend Kris’s funeral, and to support my family wherever I can. Meeting with Denise the other day, and talking to her about Lauren and the boys and their future, one way we both concluded that we could help was to try and help to raise some money to support Lauren and the kids through this terrible time. Lauren has lost the love of her life, and the boys their super hero dad. The last thing they need to worry about at this awful time is money. It is a sad but also true fact that this is a concern for so many of us nowadays, let alone when the main household earner is no longer there to provide.

In the coming months, Lauren and the boys will have to learn to adapt to life without their dad around. For those of us who knew and loved Kris, if you feel you are able to donate to try and alleviate some of the financial pressures on the family, that would go a long way to making a difference to their lives. The boys are going to need their mam more than ever, and Lauren them, and this would at least help to give them breathing space, and take away one stress at such a harrowing and confusing time for them all.

Kris touched our lives in so many ways, as a husband, dad, son, brother, brother in law, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend, work mate and so much more. His sudden and tragic passing has touched us all, and myself like so many of us feel helpless in how we can honour his life and memory. Hopefully in supporting Lauren and the kids, we can help to do just that.
