Bereavement Fund for Linda Coogan
Donation protected
Our beloved friend, Matthew, died in a car accident a week ago. Y'all know that while Matt loved all of us, he loved his Momma the most. He worried over her and tended to her and told everyone who would listen how she was his best friend. And she was.
Our Matt didn't have a lot of fears, but one that was on his mind a lot was the fear that he would leave the world before her, and that she would not be okay. This was on his mind so much so that it was the first thing that came to so many of us when we heard about his death. We thought about Linda--how could a person, even such an incredibly strong person, bear such a tremendous loss? How could she lose both of her beautiful children? How will she ever be okay?
I had the deeply beautiful honor of getting to go with Linda and other members of Matt's family to see Matt's body before we buried him on Thursday. In one of the most tender moments I've ever witnessed, Linda laid her head on Matthew's chest and she told him that she was going to be okay, because the people that loved him were going to make sure that she was okay.
I know many people have and will continue to give to ACE in Matt's honor. And I wanted to also offer an invitation to his community to contribute to a bereavement fund for Linda. I want to take her to the ocean. I want to give her space to write and to make art and to integrate this story.
Any amount and any share will be received as a blessing. If you want to give an offline donation, please reach out I'll let you know how to send it.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
