The Bergman family needs you..

The Bergman Family of Towson is asking for your help this holiday season.  Tom and Karey have been blessed with 3 wonderful children--Coleman (14), Tylar (12), and Sarah (7).

Tom has been disabled for several years after a brain anuresym rupture, and surgery which left him with a seizure disorder, blind in his right eye, memory and cognitive processing challenges as well as excruciating pains in his head and Kneck..  Although Tom has many good days, he never knows when the next seizure will hit.  He will just collapse to the ground with no warning, or a severe headache will occur out of nowhere.  As a result of his frequent seizures and some other medical problems the doctors have determined that Tom is unable to attend full-time work at this time.  Unfortunately, we were told after numerous extensive surgeries and having tried a multitude of different seizure medications, that it is most likely Tom will live with seizures for the rest of his life.  Due to the trauma and complications from his initial brain surgery, he can only minimize his seizures with treatments and direction from his doctors.

In addition, our eldest child, Coleman had a serious accident while helping his father mow lawns in the neighborhood last summer.  He slipped and his foot went into the back of the lawnmower.  Coleman was rushed to the hospital where he underwent surgery to reattach several toes and to rebuild part of his foot.  After several weeks at the hospital and multiple surgeries, Coleman recovered well from this accident.  However, several months later, an infection occured and he was readmitted into the hospital.  It was determined that not only did he develop a serious staff infection in his bone, but that he also was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes.  We are very thankful that Coleman is doing much better and has returned to playing football.  However, he is still required to manage his diabetes with daily injections and careful monitoring of his glucose levels.

Our family has faced numerous difficulties over the years.  It is a challenge to cover the cost of regular bills, raise 3 children, and sustain both Tom and Coleman's medical needs.  Although insurance has covered a sizeable amount of medical payments, there are still many aspects of Tom and Coleman's treatments that are not covered.

Currently, Tom is now facing an additional brain surgery in the coming months.  He hopes that through this surgery, he will become well enough to return to work full-time.  The upcoming expenses for Tom's surgery, in addition to the continual expenses of Coleman's diabetes treatments, are quite overwhelming.  As a result, the thought of providing a Christmas for our children seems daunting and almost impossible.   We are asking for help for preparing for Tom's upcoming brain surgery as well as providing a Christmas for our children.

I hope you will consider helping our family this holiday season to help alleviate the heavy burden of our current circumstances.  Any financial support you can offer at this time is a blessing and we deeply appreciate it.  If you are unable to give at this time, please join us in continuous prayer for Tom and our Family.

God Bless You,

The Bergman Family
(Tom, Karey, Coleman, Tylar, and Sarah)
