BERLIN LOW-INCOME ARTIST+FREELANCER RELIEF FUND
Hi. We're a group of low-income/precariously employed artists+freelancers from the Berlin arts scene raising money to support other artists and freelancers like us who are taking financial hits as a result of closures and lost income from Covid-19. Our intention is to collectively raise funds to provide emergency and preventative resources to those at financial risk as the government is doing little to protect our well-being.
We seek to provide a IMMEDIATE and ACCESSIBLE financial support for fellow artists+freelancers whose livelihoods are being effected by this pandemic in Berlin, be it through cancelled gigs, lost jobs or lack of business due to Covid-19.
We will offer micro-grants of 50 Euros each to folx in need. The funds we are able to raise will, first and foremost, go to those who are poor, low-income, without access to (sufficient) state support and/or healthcare, without paid leave, elderly, disabled, immunocompromised, BIPOC, trans/GNC/NB/queer artists and freelancers, and those with dependents.
Our goal is to make disbursements once a week depending on funds received/fund-release times and get them to people in a timely manner. If you applied and haven't heard back from us in a few days, please hang tight. We will work to get funds dispersed as quickly as possible. Make sure to mention if your need for a micro-grant is time-sensitive, and by when you need the funds. We aim to accommodate this when possible.
IMPORTANT UPDATE 03.4.2020:
The second pay-out from GoFundMe is complete and in the second round of disbursements, we will be transferring 13 micro-grants to the "successful" applicants in the next 24 hours.
In Round 1 and 2, we have so far been able to distribute a total of 35 micro-grants (after deduction of fees for individual transfers and by GoFundMe).
We will not be accepting more applications for the moment as all funds have been drawn out from the campaign. We will start taking applications again as soon as we have funds to distribute again.

For logistics and transparency: Jos (the registered campaigner) will withdraw the funds as results from the survey come in and send the funds to the individual artist requesting them (the beneficiary). We are working as a diverse team comprised of members of the community, to ensure that funds are dispersed ethically and are accounted for directly. Artists apply by filling out a short survey regarding their situation, income, and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Funds will go directly to the artists to counter any lost income incurred as a result of cancelled jobs, gigs, and illnesses or preventive measures due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Please consider sharing if you are unable to give at this time.
