Berlin’s Gender affirming fund
My name is Berlin Le Bon . I am a transgender woman , and drag performer from Vancouver.
Over the past year due to the pandemic I have been put into an unexpected and less than ideal situation. My life has been put on a standstill , and I haven’t been able to move forward medically with my transition.
As a drag artist , I relied so heavily on in person events and as we all know , those were put on hold. Along with that , my daytime job faced me with reduced hours. Ultimately I have felt like I’m running towards a finish line of my transition - with no way of finally crossing.
My life has been up and down for many reasons , and unfortunately because of a complex relationship with my family - I have not had the support of them for the past 11 years.
My bottom surgery is scheduled for September 20th in Montreal. This is a surgery I have been dreaming of for my entire life. For me to finally have the outside of my body match how I feel inside - is an unexplainable happiness.
In regards to the surgery and following doctor’s orders - I will be recovering and unable to work for 12 weeks. Because of the lack of employment over the last year and a half and not being able to ask my family for support, I find myself needing to ask for help from my community.
If you have ever wanted to to tip me at a show, if you enjoy my content on social media , or if I have ever just put a smile on your face - please consider donating to this go fund me.
My goal is set to $15,000 which will assist me by covering 3 months of rent, and bills as well as pre and post operative supplies for surgery prep and recovery. It will also go towards accommodations in Montreal , where I am getting my surgery.
The remainder will be going towards my Facial feminization surgery. FFS is is a vital part of my transition and is as important to me as my bottom surgery - Matching my exterior to how I feel inside will alleviate the stress, pain and anxiety I feel everyday. Something as simple as walking down the street , can be a terrifying experience for me.
The past 3 years of transitioning has brought a lot of challenges but the love and support from all of you, makes it so much easier to navigate.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, I love you all so much and I am so excited grateful and blessed to be apart of an amazing community.
With Love ,
Berlin
