Best dog EVER needs surgery that I can't afford :(

This is Louis...

Louis is my best friend...

my cuddle buddy...

my constant companion...

He ADORES his Mommy, too...

and she's crazy about him...

but Louis and I have a special bond...

because he's my service dog. (I have diabetes and Louis can tell when my blood glucose gets too high or too low.) He goes pretty much everywhere with me.

He gets so excited any time I pick up my car keys!

He's also my  jester, my goofball; he lifts my spirits when I'm feeling down. (I suffer from depression.)

At home, he follows me around the house. He just has to be wherever I am. (As I write this, he's under my desk.)

I'm pretty sure that
(except for my wife and my Mom) he loves me more than anyone or anything ever has or ever will...

I've had several dogs in my life, but none like Louis. He means the world to me...

He's very, very special to both my wife and me...

If you met Louis, you'd LOVE him, too! (Everyone does.)

Because he'd make you smile...

With his fun-loving, happy-go-lucky way, Louis is always up for anything.

He just LOVES LIFE...

And if Louis met you, he'd love you right back.

Lately, though, Louis hasn't been his old self.

He won't eat (he's lost a lot of weight), can't jump out of the car like he used to (it's not that he's old; he's middle-aged for a Bearded Collie), he's lethargic and depressed and he can't seem to get comfortable...

So we took him to the doctor to try to find out what's wrong. The news wasn't good.

Louis has a tumor in his spleen.

The good news is, it's operable. Just like people, dogs can live a long, happy life without a spleen. The bad news is that the surgery to have his spleen removed is going to cost much, much, MUCH more than we have. The diagnostic visit took nearly all we had in our "emergency fund" (which has steadily dwindled as the pandemic has destroyed my income.)

The tumor may be benign. Or it may be malignant. We won't know until it's removed and biopsied. But we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

His surgery is scheduled for January 6th - and we desperately need to raise the money to pay for it. Anything you can spare would be greatly appreciated. And if you could tell others about this fundraiser, that would be super helpful. Thank you for taking the time to read this. We really appreciate it (and I'm sure Louis does, too!)
