Dear Friends of Bethanne
Many of you are aware that Bethanne has temporarily relocated from Houston to New York so she can be with and support her beloved mother in her advanced stage of cancer.
The original plan was for Madeline and Bethanne to spend two weeks in August with her mom as she started chemotherapy. They soon realized her cancer was too advanced and chemo was going to be more hurtful than help. Her mother made the decision to go back home under hospice care. Those of us who are fortunate to know Bethanne and her enormous heart, know that she would never leave her mother under these conditions. She has now been by her mother’s side for 3 months and repeatedly says she would never be anywhere else.
Bethanne has always been incredibly close to her mother - a truly wonderful woman – who she credits for showing her how to care for others. Her empathy, kind heart and loving nature make Bethanne’s mother an amazing gift to the world. And we all know she raised a remarkable daughter!
The enormity of the responsibiliy and emotional strees Bethanne is under are having a profound effect of her.. While caring for her mother, she is also supporting Madeline - who is e learning and missing her friends and life back home, while at the same time seeing her mother and grandmother go through an incredibly difficult time.
Although no one can make this ‘all better’ for Bethanne – as we would so love to do - there are ways we can be here for her. The purpose of this GoFundMe is to help offset the costs she has incurred to be in New York. This includes travel, two weeks in a hotel for quarantine, and, since they have not been able to move from their rental, the cost of running two households. Most importantl though, this GoFundMe will provide the additional in-home care for her mother that would allow Bethanne the emotional and physical pause she desperately needs right now.
So many of us have wonderful memories of Bethanne and the ways she has touched our lives - and the lives of so many others. If you’d like to join this GoFundMe, please do. Regardless, know that Bethanne is incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support she has received from her friends. She is feeling the love and that makes all the difference right now.
