Cancer Strikes Twice in 8 Months

It didn't hit me at first. I really had cancer again after going through an unwanted hysterectomy just 6 months earlier. I left the oncology office and headed back to work, but by the time I got home I was angry and I didn't know why. In the light of the next day I realized the anger stemmed from feeling out of control. I didn't like the diagnosis and I didn't like the doctor's prescription - Radiation.
The alternative choices seemed way out of reach. I trusted the Oasis of Hope in Tijuano (www.oasisofhope.com), but how would I ever come up with $30,000. I had just accepted a job because we couldn't make it on social security.
Thanks to all the love, prayers and contributions, and after a ton of research, I have begun treatment with Carla Gilmore at Love Alkaline Living Wellness Center (www.lovealkalineliving.com). Carla is only 30 minutes away and “pay as you go” instead of a huge lump sum, but treatment will continue as long as necessary. More importantly she treats the entire body with healthy, non-damaging therapies, diet and coaching. Please read my 3/17 update for more about my treatment and also check out www.lovealkalineliving.com.
For those just tuning in: A routine ultrasound in 2016 revealed polyps. We never expected a subsequent biopsy would test positive for uterine cancer. Then a September 6th total hysterectomy eliminated the cancer according to the oncologist (I wish I’d known about Carla then.)
Fast forward. February 1, feeling almost myself, I began training for commission sales. On the job less than a month, I began bleeding. On March 3rd I got the results from a vaginal biopsy: a rare cancer - the conventional treatment is radiation; but radiation can cause cancer and has been known to damage nearby organs. In a subsequent exam the GYN radiologist confirmed the presence of a tumor. If the tumor grows, the treatment would be surgical removal of the cancer and surrounding organs including the bladder!
I researched various options, including radiation, before discovering Carla’s wellness center. Oasis of Hope would be $30,000 for 3 weeks plus additional for meds at home. Dr. Carlos Garcia at Utopia Wellness Clinic is $36,000 for 2 months of 2 hours 5 day/week. I learned that radiation damages DNA and, what often seems a quick healing results in a more potent cancer. Plus the abdomen holds many other vital organs which can be so badly damaged by scar tissue that surgery is required. I already have adjacent organs that are creating discomfort and not behaving the same since my hysterectomy.
I’m not afraid to die. I know where I’m going, but I have lots to live for and lots more to give to my family, to the world through my writing, to aspiring writers by facilitating writers workshops, and to the assisted living patients we visit with our dog as part of Canines for Christ (www.k9forchrist.org) I'm ready for the next adventure, and, my prayer is, that my research, experience and treatment will help others.
I've reduced my goal to $15,000. I don't believe the original $35,000 will be necessary since I've opted for a much less expensive protocol with Carla Gilmore - far less than she could competively charge. I'm hoping $10,000 will be enough, but we need to hit the cancer hard right now to stop it from growing.
Any amount will help. Dollars are made of pennies! I especially ask for your prayers. God is certainly able to provide a miracle. Regardless, I know good things will come from this because Jesus works all things together for good when we walk in His will (Romans 8:28)
Thank you for caring enough to read this and for your consideration. I know there are many needs crying for your money, but I promise to do my best to use your gift as wisely and expediantly as possible.
