Beto’s Spinal Surgery and Kindney Stone Surgery

Hi, I’m Maria. I’m fundraising to help a family friend in my hometown in Ceara, Brazil.

Beto Mariano has had many health challenges and difficulties over the years. When he was young, yellow fever took his mother’s life and also caused Beto to loose mobility in his legs. The bones in his legs and feet have fused together. He has always managed to go about life and to adapt and never even complain or ask for anything from anyone. He is active in the church and spreads the word of god, volunteers his time to a public radio station. The loss of his wife from a heart attack 5 years ago left him with more challenges to face, having two teenage daughters and a son. Beto has kidney stones that cause a great deal of pain. The removal of them requires a surgery. He also suffers a great deal of pain in his spine caused from constantly sitting in the wheelchair. The cartilage in some of the discs of his spine are depleted and require immediate attention as it causes the nerves to be under constant pressure, leaving him in constant pain. Beto needs a surgery which would use pins to fuse those affected vertebrae together and place artificial discs between them to take the pressure off of the nerves. This is a call for help to aid Beto in these surgeries and to possibly get him a new wheelchair. Anything is appreciated and welcome.
