Betsy Moody Recovery

Hi, my name is Brian Dubreuil and I am fund raising for Dick and Betsy Moody. On April 29th of this year, Elizabeth Moody (Betsy) suffered a major brain aneurism rendering her incapacitated. Her husband Dick quickly initiated CPR and called 911. The New Boston Fire Department responded and began life saving measures. She was quickly transported to CMC and later flown by helicopter to Brigham and Women’s hospital in Boston. According to the staff at CMC and at Brigham’s, it is an absolute miracle that she survived at all. They attributed the initial outcome of this event to immediate action of Dick who just retired from the New Boston Fire Department after volunteering over 53 years of service.

Betsy underwent successful surgery at Brigham and Women’s hospital but due the severity of the aneurism, they anticipate a very long recovery period requiring long stays in the hospital along with rehabilitation services. She was recently released from Brigham’s and sent to a facility in Nashua where she developed and infection and blood clot in her lungs. She is now back in the hospital and being treated for this set back, prolonging her rehabilitation time.

At 80 years old, Dick continues to travel to the hospital every day to visit Betsy. He has had to pay for travel, boarding in Boston, meals, etc. The day-to-day expenses that add up quickly during these events. He faces medical bills for the surgery, hospital stays, med flight transportation, and rehabilitation services.

Dick and Betsy are pillars of this town volunteering countless hours to the citizens of the community. It is not in their nature to ask for help as they are both fiercely independent and proud. That is why I am asking for your assistance on their behalf. Please consider donating if you can to help make this battle a little easier for them.
