Better future for kids of Garcini, Romania
Donation protected
Donate to help create a better future for these children!
Anca, a local Roma teacher, is working closely with children, parents and teachers in the Roma community in Sacele, Garcini neighbourhood in Northern Romania to reduce illiteracy and school drop-out. The alarming average school drop-out rate is over 50% and unemployment rates near 80%. Officially, the community has a population of 9000 Roma ethnics (20.000 in reality) and living conditions are very poor: People live in shacks, infrastructure is bad, there is lack of electricity and current water in houses.
Recently, the Red Cross and we have supported community members to discover behaviours and solutions that can help solve these challenges. The community and especially the children are doing a great effort and there are positive signs and results emerging. But success is fragile.
To increase the children's school attendance and get parental support Anca and her colleagues need help to build a community house where they can all meet, discuss and have training workshops. Take a minute to watch this video where Anca explains why a community house is needed.
We invite you to make a donation, so it will be possible to build a community house and increase the children's school attendance and improve the conditions of the whole community.
Kr100 (Danish kroner) is close to $15 (US dollars) and EUR13,5 (euros).
Please share and thank you in advance!
