Better Than A Bandana
we started this when doctors and nurses were running out of masks to wear. They were being advised to wear bandanas and scarves to protect themselves within the hospital environment. This is still true in some areas, however the medical professional needs for masks are decreasing. (thank goodness!) We are now in a situation where every person needs a mask. We are shifting our focus to provide masks to the elderly and other high risk individuals while also still providing for medical professionals in need. We believe that people have a right to protect themselves and others with a mask and are proving them for free. We are asking for donations to keep this operation running. We are now teaming up with local organizations for distribution of masks to those in the most need. Money raised is used for supplies. Those supplies are distributed to a team of sewers donating their time and energy to make these face masks.
this is linked to the ‘Better than a Bandana’ Facebook group that is based out of Western Mass.
We are also looking for cotton fabric, elastic, cord or t-shirts (for t-shirt yarn), thread and wire (pipe cleaners, twist ties, coffee bag ties...)
thank you and we appreciate whatever you can give.
