Support Bills 760Mile Ride for Bri and her battle with CIPO

Donation protected
My Name is Bill Ayres. I am Cycling from Durango Colorado to Wamego Kansas from June 26th to July 2nd, 2024. I am doing this in honor of Brianna Hoffman for an event we developed called 760 for Bri, from the Mountains to the Flint Hills 760 miles, 7days to change the world. I am doing this to help raise funds for medical expenses directly for Bri and also raise awareness for the disease called Chronic Intestional Pseudo-obstruction (CIPO).
CIPO is a rare, severe and disabling gastrointestinal motility disorder. CIPO may involve multiple areas of the gastrointestinal tract, including the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine and rectum. The bladder may also be affected in some people as it is for Brianna.
In people with CIPO, the coordinated muscle contractions in the intestinal tract (peristalsis) become altered and inefficient. Effective peristalsis is very important for digestion and is dependent on the muscles, nerves and hormones in the digestive tract working in a coordinated fashion. Because of the inefficient peristalsis, the intestines in people with CIPO act as if there is a true mechanical obstruction or blockage. However, when testing is performed, no physical evidence of a blockage is found. This causes extreme pain. Due to inefficient peristalsis, Brianna receives her nutrition through a central line in her chest that goes to her heart to avoid her gastrointestinal tract. This IV nutrition is called Total parenteral nutrition (TPN). Hydration and medicines for her body are also given through her central line to avoid her gastrointestinal tract.
I have been wanting to do something that can change the world. Bri has inspired me because through it all, she has kept a positive attitude and helped others that have lived with this condition. She is a very selfless, caring young lady who I have the utmost respect and admiration. In conversations I have had with Bri, she never wants to put the focus on herself, she is always thinking of others.
Here is a little more about Bri.
Brianna Hoffman, Wamego, Kansas, has been facing serious health issues for numerous years. As a child she spent much time at a Children's Hospital. As a young adult she was on a path to become a medical doctor with the goal to help people. Brianna's health condition caused those plans to change drastically. Now at age 25, Brianna continues her fight for life. She has a will to live and to make other's lives better. Bri lives with several health conditions that are severely debilitating. Friends of Brianna ask you to rally together to show your support for Brianna, celebrate Brianna and show that life is better with Bri. For more information on the event check out the website betterwithbri.org . Thank you for your support all proceeds will go to Bri.
