Betty’s fight against breast cancer

Anyone who has ever met Betty, knows of her fun loving smile. She is the kind of person who shines a loving light in the lives of others, gives laughter to all and cherishes friendships. Betty has faced many challenges in her life and through it all, she has held onto her strong spirit and hilarious sense of humor. Betty loves a good prank and if ever given an idea for pulling one off it is not surprising when it happens! In a normal year she tends to her garden and cultivates lots of beautiful purple flowers. Betty loves dogs and raises two adorable Shih Tzus. She is constantly grooming them and making healthy home cooked meals. They bring her joy and they are so lucky to have her love. 

Unfortunately, near her 60th birthday in June, Betty was given devastating news of advanced breast cancer. Soon afterward, she faced a double mastectomy including the removal of lymph nodes. The follow up tests indicated a need for both chemotherapy and radiation. 

Despite this terrible news, Betty continues to find the light and laughter in life and is committed to facing this challenge with same strength and positivity she has done all her life. 

My name is Chris and alongside Betty’s other loving friends, we are reaching out to ask for support for Betty as she bravely faces her fight against breast cancer. 

At this time, Betty is going through the necessary chemotherapy while trying to maintain her regular work schedule but the effect of the surgery and treatment has been debilitating. To add to the burden, the situation has brought on great financial challenges as Betty is a self-supporter financially and now finds herself struggling to continue the difficult pace of working while enduring treatments. 

During this process, despite all she is facing, Betty has learned of the record amount of breast cancer cases at this time and has been openly sharing her diagnosis in the hopes that her journey will inspire others to be aware of symptoms and is encouraging everyone to get mammograms as scheduled and without delay. So please, if you are due for one, go get it done. 

We are now asking for your support in helping Betty stay focused on her fight against breast cancer and healing by donating whatever you can to help lessen her burden. 

Our goal to raise $15,000 via our Go Fund Me page will help our dear friend meet medical expenses, insurance deductibles, copayments, medicine and support the extreme hardship in her fight to conquer breast cancer. In addition, we are planning an in-person fundraising event on November 11, 2023 in Wayne Michigan which will include a silent auction so please save the date and reach out if you have any items to donate for this worthy cause.
