Betty McVey’s Memorial

My Mother, Betty McVey lost her battle to cancer on January 12, 2024. She was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer a few days after Thanksgiving 2023 when she was brought to the hospital for difficulty breathing. A CT scan determined the cancer spread to her abdomen. She was able to come home a few days after a procedure; we were still waiting for answers from an Oncologist. December 21st, 2023, she ended up back in the hospital because she developed a staph infection from the procedure. My Mom’s kidneys were having difficulty with all the medications. While she was in the hospital receiving treatment for the infection, the cancer grew more in her abdomen causing a lot of pain and discomfort. She met with an oncologist and started chemotherapy on January 5th, 2024 while she was in the hospital. Unfortunately, the chemotherapy and all the medications were too much for her kidneys; on January 8th, 2024, the Doctors informed us that she was in End-stage Renal failure and she was not a candidate for dialysis and no longer a candidate for chemotherapy. January 11th, 2024, we brought her home on Hospice care. January 12th, 2024, Heaven gained an Angel. My mom was a genuinely kind, funny, selfless person; whether it be her career in healthcare for 40+ years, donating to worthy causes, or a loved one in need, she had a passion for helping others. Before my Mom passed away, she mentioned that she wanted to be buried near my Grandfather (her Father) and share a plot with my Father. We are trying to move Heaven and Earth to honor her wishes because we know she would do the same for anyone. Her funeral will be on January 26, 2024, at Miller Funeral Home in Folsom, CA. We hope to see anyone and everyone who wants to pay their respects and maybe even share a story or two about my mom. The services will start at 11 am. With everything happening in such a short time, my family and I are asking for help with the cost of her burial. Anything helps with honoring my Mom’s last wishes♥️
