Betty Tipton Cancer Fight

Donation protected
On the morning of July 25th, my beloved wife of 23 years was diagnosed with bile duct cancer. An otherwise healthy 56 year old, Betty had no history of chronic illness or drug and alcohol abuse. We were utterly devastated by this news. As if to add insult to injury, she spent the next two weeks in ICU fighting for her life following complications from a procedure to insert external drains in her bile ducts, which led to acute pancreatitis, renal failure, infection, and the threat of pneumonia. Thankfully, Betty is a fighter and managed to regain enough strength to move out of ICU. However, she is still in the hospital receiving dialysis three times per week, hoping her kidneys will begin working again so she can receive chemotherapy treatment for the tumor in her liver, which is currently too large to surgically remove.

A selfless and compassionate person, Betty has devoted her life to caring for others. A decorated veteran, she retired from the Navy after 20 years of honorable service to her country and then moved home to South Carolina so we could raise our daughter close to family. She has been the primary caregiver for her elderly parents ever since, moving her parents into our home in 2019 and taking care of their daily needs. She homeschooled our daughter for nine years, enabling her to graduate from high school early and start college at 15 years old.

Betty is a faithful Christian and trusts in the Lord. She has been an energetic volunteer for Samaritan’s Purse and has taken great joy in contributing packages filled with toys and clothing to children in need through Operation Christmas Child. During this difficult time, she is comforted by Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, for those who are the called according to his purpose.”

We humbly ask for donations to provide for Betty’s medical related needs. Your generous support will be greatly appreciated. Despite all that she has been through, she has kept her spirits up and has maintained a cheerful disposition toward family, friends, and the hospital staff. We are simply asking people to donate as they feel led. Thank you!
