Betty's Cafe + Bar Fundraiser

Donation protected
Over the past few years, Betty’s has grown from a little cafe inside the sadly defunct Waiting Room to an important part of the West End community. Betty’s prides itself on being an open, safe space, which brings together the creative and celebrates the individual; it’s a celebration of the community spirit that makes West End Brisbane’s most unique suburb.

Since opening, Betty’s has been involved in all aspects of the local community, from supporting local bands to giving its walls as canvases to artists. We boast one of West End’s most alternate milk friendly menus and have even opened our downstairs doors to unique local businesses. We’ve also hosted fund-raising events to support a range of charities. Betty’s is, quite simply, a true West Ender, and a hold-out against the gentrification threatening the suburb.

Now, it’s time for our next growth spurt, and we need your help to mature. Why does Betty’s need help? Good question! Despite all of the cool things listed above, the sad reality is that a combination of a very real economic downturn, the impact of local development and construction, and the changing face of the average West End resident have all taken a toll on business. We want to expand and maintain a very real part of the true West End, but it’s become painfully apparent that to do so, we have to call on the community for help.

What do you even want my money for??? We have big dreams for Betty’s, to expand the scope of the space and make a positive impact on the community. With your help we’ll:

Finish fitting out our bar to create a fun, safe & queer-friendly space.

Open up the back of the cafe and make it available as a gallery space and to the community for fundraisers and awareness events

Kick-off the Friday afternoon post work happy hour and a sausage sizzle in the grand Aussie tradition, where local community groups and charities will cook up a storm and keep all the profits. more collaborative events between Betty’s and the barber shop and tattoo studio who occupy the downstairs rooms.

Not starve and maintain a rad island that celebrates the best of the community spirit of West End.

We're aiming for an early  August launch, so any and all donations over the next two months are very appreciated, and will help Betty's enter it's next stage of life.
