Beyond the Bars Fundraiser for 40 Musical Labs

Beyond the Bars is working to build 40 musical labs throughout Philadelphia to make musical outlets accessible to any youth who have been impacted by violence. Through our youths' leadership they have worked to build recording labs full of refurbished computers (the students also learn IT) and instruments so that students throughout the city can express themselves and work towards their musical goals. To date we have built musical labs and programs in locations such as youth shelters, trauma clinics, foster care, diversion, recreation centers and programs for youth who have been physically or sexually abused. We use music to engage youth and then connect them with the resources of our amazing community partners to ensure that their needs are met as they work towards their future. These labs are further staffed by student teachers who are trained and then compensated to be leaders for the next generation. With your help we can complete our building of 40 music labs and have a city where music is an accessible right that all youth can have.

More information about Beyond The Bars Inc: MISSION Beyond The Bars is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to opening creative, musical spaces to youth who have been impacted by the incarceration system. We use music as a means to promote self efficacy and expression to our talented young people. Our programs led by Philadelphia based teachers and musicians foster a creative atmosphere and provide well rounded and engaging musical sessions. Through this, we support our young people to realize who they are as musicians.
