Ares is not going to survive his injuries. He is preceded in death by his infant sister, Iris.

Due to losing both children to this horrific double murder, our fundraising goal has been updated. See below for the costs the family faces:

1. Funeral Costs for Ares & Iris

- Basic funeral services (transportation, preparation, ceremony, burial or cremation): $7,000–$15,000 per child

- Casket or urn: $1,000–$4,000 each

- Burial plot or cremation service: $2,000–$5,000 each

- Headstone and memorial costs: $1,500–$5,000 per child

- Total Estimated Range for Both Children: $20,000–$50,000

2. Outstanding Medical Bills

- Hospital stay & ICU costs: Likely in the hundreds of thousands, though insurance may cover some

- Surgical and treatment costs: Even with insurance, the family may owe $10,000–$50,000 or more

- Total Estimated Medical Costs: $10,000–$100,000 (depending on insurance and hospital billing adjustments)

3. Legal Fees for Justice

- Criminal case assistance: $5,000–$20,000+

- Advocacy for policy changes (if applicable): $5,000+

- Total Estimated Legal Costs: $5,000–$25,000

4. Additional Support for the Family

- Counseling and grief support: This has been generously offered free of charge

- Loss of income as parents need extended leave from work

- Total Estimated Family Support Needs: $5,000–$20,000+

Final Estimated Goal: $40,000–$200,000+

- Ideal goal: $100,000+ to cover outstanding medical bills and long-term support

- Stretch goal: $200,000 to fully assist with all needs, including legal efforts

We are heartbroken to share that our dear friends have experienced an unimaginable tragedy. A devastating car accident took the life of their precious 2.5-month-old baby, Iris, and left their 3.5-year-old child, Ares, with severe burns requiring extensive medical treatment. The accident was caused by a vehicle fleeing from the police and crashing into their car. Iris' father, who was driving, was not at fault.

The children are the grandbabies of Alan and Sarah Vawter.

The parents are Jack (Jasmine) and Shadow.

Now, this family is facing not only overwhelming grief but also staggering medical bills, funeral expenses, and months of recovery ahead. We are asking for your support to help them through this heartbreaking time.
