Help Karen Fight Cancer!

Hello family and friends,
As many of you may know, our mom Karen has received a diagnosis of Stage 3 HER2 + over expressing breast cancer. It is also in one lymph node. She began her Chemo treatments on February 1st. She is taking 3 types of chemo every 3 weeks. Five days following chemo she takes an injection for 5 days to increase her white blood cell count. On top of chemo, she takes 4 additional medications to assist with nausea, pain, etc.
The chemo treatments are expected to go until May (minimum 6 treatments). Approximately one month following chemo, Mom will undergo a Double Mastectomy. Following the surgery she will have Radiation. Her Specialist has taken her out of work for 9-12 months at minimum. So, as you may imagine she has a difficult journey ahead of her.
Between having a 40% reduction in wages and the cost (after her insurance) for her medications she is at a loss of approximately $700/week. At the 9 month minimum she can expect to be off, this is a total of at least a $25,000 loss of income. Although we don’t expect to completely replace this, anything helps. She also will require headwear/hair pieces and special clothing pieces following her surgery, etc.
Long story short, this puts financial pressures and stresses on an already difficult time.
If you know our mom, you know she is hardworking, strong, and would give the shirt off her back to help a person in need. She’s the kind of person who volunteers for charity and goes on missions to help underprivileged get access to vision care. If anyone knows about paying it forward, it’s our Mom! She’s the last person to ask for help or complain.
Although Mom was hesitant when we mentioned this, Tess and I decided to start a Go Fund Me. This is my sister and I humbly asking for your help to take away some stress for our Mom. There isn’t a lot we can do to change her circumstances but this is one way we can try to make a difference.
She is a warrior and she will beat this!!!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
Crystal & Tess
