Medical Expenses for Dakota

Hi there, we are raising funds for medical expenses for Dakota Sizemore. Dakota is a kind, sweet, silly 13-year-old girl in Brevard, NC. She's also a pretty fantastic volleyball and basketball player! During the week of May 9, Dakota started undergoing mini-seizures unbeknownst to everyone else around her. On the night of May 14, she had a major seizure and was rushed to the hospital. Dakota could not speak, walk, or make any facial expressions or coordinated movements. After almost four days, her seizures were under control with medication, but she was not improving. The doctors then started testing her for encephalitis. Within one hour of being treated with a steroid combination for auto-immune encephalitis, Dakota was able to say a few words. It will be a few weeks before the results of the tests are conclusive, but Dakota is progressing a little more each day now. Auto-immune encephalitis is a very rare disease, and there is no genetic predisposition for it nor any warning. Recovery time is different for everyone and can last weeks, months, and years. Both Dakota's parents work full-time and face a mountain of medical bills and many days off work. Please pray for Dakota and consider donating to help this family during such a scary time.
