OUR GRACIE

Hearing that your beautiful daughter, who is only 22 months old, has Leukaemia, has to be every parent’s nightmare.
The shock and disbelief hits like a crashing wave.

This is the story of little Gracie, who is loved and supported by her older brother, Frankie (who is 3 years old), Mum, Sophie, Dad George, and Grandparents, Gilly and Doug.

The future will now be completely different as Gracie faces life-saving intensive treatments (some with very unpleasant side effects), and embarks on this challenging journey, which is likely to go on for some time to come.

Gracie’s positivity and tenacity at her tender age, is simply inspiring. It’s heartwarming to see her joy, on a ‘good day’, as she plays outside, with medical tubes in situ and bags attached, determined to enjoy every minute of the day.
Usually wearing a beautifully knitted, colourful hat, to cover her hair loss, and to keep her head warm.
And we mustn’t forget her little mauve crocs. Mauve being her favourite colour.

Gracie’s initial hospitalisation and continuing treatment plan, has significantly impacted both George and Sophie’s earning abilities, causing one to give up work completely and the other to reduce their hours significantly.
Their living costs, have increased enormously, their income reduced, and with everything that having a sick child encompasses, the financial consequences are self evident.

The Aim:

To help take some of the financial pressure off George and Sophie, allowing them to focus on Gracie’s long term treatment and eventual recovery.

This young family of 4 are facing challenging times but we want them to know, they are not alone and we hope this fundraiser might make things a little easier for the whole family.

This has led to the St Saviour’s Community Foodbank Volunteers organising a sponsored walk on behalf of this loving family. Gracie’s Grandmother is a valuable colleague and volunteer at the Foodbank and we decided that this was a good way to support her family, who are also, a part of our family.

The walk will take place at Kempton Park race course on the 22nd April 2023 at 1pm. Walkers/ runners have a choice of completing a 5k or 10k walk/run.
All donations will be going to Gracie and her family.

From the whole team at the Community Foodbank, we send LOTS OF LOVE to our Gracie xxx
