UPDATE: Lawsuit in VA Federal Court
We're currently navigating a critical phase in our lawsuit regarding Grace's custody. The defendants have opted to file a petition for dismissal instead of addressing their unlawful detention of Grace. While this tactic may delay resolution and increase costs, we remain steadfast in our pursuit of justice.
This lawsuit holds profound implications for puppy raisers across the industry. It is crucial that we emphasize the principle that temporary custody means just that — temporary. Puppy raisers/trainers must honor instructions to return puppies promptly.
Your continued support is invaluable as we strive to establish a precedent that protects the rights of Service Dog organizations that utilize puppy raisers. Together, we can send a clear message about the importance of ethical practices and accountability in animal custody.
Thank you for standing with us during this challenging but pivotal time.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT: Two former board members are refusing to return a puppy that they were granted temporary custody of for training. The puppy was donated to Kindred Cain9 Connections for a specific designated purpose and that is to be matched with a Veteran, Active Duty Member or First Responder, or she would be the future of Kindred Cain9s breeding program to produce more service dog prospects. We requested the dog be returned to us on Jan 1, 2024. We have exhausted all non-legal negotiations/action and must now file a lawsuit. We don’t take this action lightly, but feel we have no other option.

These former board members have breached their fiduciary responsibility to the organization and they need to be held accountable to return our puppy. We are asking for support in our “Bring Grace Home” campaign. Filing a lawsuit in a different state isn’t going to be easy, fun or cheap, but it must be done. Grace is invaluable to Kindred Cain9’s future. She is the cornerstone to allowing this non-profit to help countless Veterans, Active Duty or First responders. Grace is the future of Kindred Cain9. Please donate what you can and forward this to everyone in your FB address book. You can also donate on our website: www.kindredcain9.org (http://www.kindredcain9.org/) If you prefer to mail donations, PO BOX #191 Utopia TX 78884 – Please feel free to PM for more options. We would like to see this post go viral! Please help
