Please Help Our Sister & her Family during Crisis

- We are humbly asking our family, friends, coworkers, and our community to come together with the Smith's and the Finnegan's. My sister, her boyfriend and my nephew are experiencing extreme hardship. Jennifer Smith, Ken Finnegan and Josh have been devastated by the structural collapse of their home on Sunday July 9, 2023. Josh Williams ,a 2023 Dover Graduate was home at the time of the incident and heard a loud, scary noise when the house began to collapse. He called my parents, screaming terrified that his house was falling down. 911 was called, Arlington and Pleasant Valley Fire Depts responded to the scene and the Special Operations firefighters fabricated support walls in the basement to help keep the house from total collapse, as there is substantial concern that the remaining portions of the house might collapse at any time. Ken Finnegan works as a mechanic for First Student bus company and is the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back and without question or hesitation. Jennifer Smith was a bus driver at First Student in Dover for over 17 years and now works as a dispatcher for the New York State Police. They are distraught and left frantic with no help as Travelers Insurance has refused to come and assess the damages and has denied coverage of the home insurance policy. Ken Finnegan has grown up in this house, and now in addition to all of his childhood memories he had to now watch his home collapse around him. He has a mortgage on his home and thinking that having Travelers insurance since he started driving, thought he could rely on this company enough to insure his home and his lifetime of memories. He is devastated.!!! Left with no answers and a home with a gaping hole, my sister and her family are now left with the stress and uncertainty of how to return this home back to normal without the financial backing of homeowners insurance. Estimated costs of repairs are approximately $100,000. Currently they have been staying nights at a hotel and at a relatives house. They’ve stored any belongings in storage that they’ve been able to salvage from the home. Please help my sister, her boyfriend, and my nephew regain some normalcy in their lives.
