Dr. Ethan D. Schafer, age 39, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 8, 2015.

Born November 21, 1975 in Pittsfield, MA, he was the son of Joseph and Gaile (Reynolds) Schafer.

Ethan earned his Bachelor’s degree at his beloved University of Michigan, to which he was a passionate supporter and fan. He went on to attend Case Western Reserve University where he earned his Masters and Doctorate degrees as well as becoming an Adjunct Professor.

His love of children was demonstrated not only through his private practice of Child Psychology, but through his work at both Lawrence and the University School; also, his love for Camp Pemigewassett in New Hampshire led him to further serve and support the camping community in numerous professional capacities.

Besides his parents, Ethan is survived by many other loving family members and friends, including his wife of 7 years, Kelly Gesaman, sons Andrew (6-years-old) and Adam (3-years-old); his brother Justin (Michele) Schafer, and sister Amber Schafer McCloud; many nephews and nieces, as well as numerous other relatives and friends who loved him and was dearly loved by him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Andy and Adam’s educational fund.
