BIBLE MEMORY CAMP IN KANSAS

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic the nation is faced with, we have taken time to prayerfully consider and decided to respond to the calling to host a Bible memory camp for Congolese refugee children in Kansas this summer, 7/27-7/31. Many of the Congolese children were born in Uganda refugee camps and some fled with their parents from the wars in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Lot of them have seen many if not all of their family being killed in the war then traveled by foot to live in the refugee camps for 15-20 years before coming to the US where some of the families have been reunited in the Kansas City area.
The camp will be co-hosted by the Petrehns couple, Tony and InAe, who have been actively involved with the refugee community in Kansas over the past few years. They will be providing transportation and a facility to run the camp.
The camp will also be led by a team of three college students, Rose, Catherine and Shay who are part of the production team of ByTheBook ministry in Bellevue, WA. The ministry team is devoted to helping children memorize (store) God's living Word in their hearts through such innovative, creative and fun ways. The Choi five (John, JooAe, Ailey, Isaac and Christopher) will join in to help bridge the ministry team and the Congolese families in Kansas.
Our prayer is that the Word of God that the children will memorize will last in their hearts forever and give them the strength and courage that comes from God alone to live in this world as God's salt and light.
We would like to open up this opportunity for you to join in prayer and support if you feel led.
Please pray that:
1. God will prepare the hearts of children to be eager to receive the Word and the hearts of their families to maintain, nurture and grow the seed of scripture beyond camp
2. Christ and Holy Spirit will be the uniting factor through the language difference in campers and leaders
3. God will be Sovereign in covering over our shortcomings and He will make His purpose known to all who are involved throughout and that we may be the effective bearers of Christ and the fruits of the Holy Spirit
4. Everyone involved will be kept safe physically and from the spiritual attacks and that we will be prepared with the full armor of God!
Raising support:
This is our first attempt to host a Bible camp in Kansas bringing a team from Seattle and we're looking to raise support to cover the costs to run the camp exclusively for the twenty children ($100 per child for a week long camp) and for the travel expenses for the three college students who have volunteered and are willing to pour out their time and energy for these children.
We look to God who has opened up a door to bring God's Word to the hearts of the Congolese refugee families and we look to God who will supply all our needs to accomplish His Will.
