Bicycles for Schoolchildren in Sierra Leone
Donation protected
I'm Mikey, and I'm running the Paisley 10K to raise funds to buy 12 bicycles for vulnerable children in Wordu in Sierra Leone. They'll use the bikes to make their three-mile journey to school possible.
Goodluck Keister (pictured) works with children and young people in the Matturi Community Centre. He runs after-school cycling sessions and is responsible for the care of ten bicycles located in the community centre. He is training to be a bicycle mechanic so that he can maintain and repair the bikes. My dad, Chris Jarrell, has been working with him remotely on his projects.
These extra 12 bikes will allow him to provide a new bike library in the village of Wordu.
We plan to buy these bikes over the next school year from Karim's Bike Store in Lunsar, so as to support the local bike economy.
Please donate to help me run on the 18th August so that they can ride!
