Dear friends, family and wider community.
Bianca and I arrived in Italy on the 28th of June excited for our 2 months in Europe. By the 29th Bianca fell Critically ill and by the 30th she was unresponsive in the Intensive care Unit of San Raffaelle Hospital in Milan.
The most terrifying reality is we almost lost her on arrival at the hospital.
Biancas case was extremely complex and unfortunate. She is a type 1 diabetic and took a medication that she has taken regularly for the past year. Unfortunately this time this medication mixed with being exhausted, dehydrated, unwell and unable to eat caused Bianca to suffer from a serious condition called Metabollic Acidosis. This was extremely dangerous and almost fatal for her, especially as a diabetic. Biancas blood was so toxic that her kidneys could not filter the blood anymore so she has been on dialysis. Bianca also suffered from resperatory failor due to an unidentified bacteria becoming general in her lungs. She is also suffering from pneumonia.
Bianca was put on a ventilator and is being treated with strong anti biotics in hope to clear some of the infecions. The doctors are working to keep her fever down and blood pressure up and she is being monitored by a specialist team around the clock. Bianca has been in an induced coma for 4 days now.
Biancas health declined rapidly over 48hours, she was taken in 3 different ambulances and visited 3 different hospitals, with the first hospital turning us away which was a huge mistake of theres as she suffered horribly overnight from the incorrect diagnosis. Finally ending up in the ICU where she will be calling home for a while.
Biancas mother, brother and uncle flew over the next day to support her. Biancas mother will be staying in Milan until Biddy returns to well enough health to fly home. This process could take months... its baby steps from this point.
Biancas mother also suffers from health problems so flying over to Italy was a huge risk for her health and she will need to be receiving medical treatment whilst over here so she can be with her girl.
Bianca and her mother, Mon, are not ones to ask for help. But its time. The family is in no financial situation to fly over to Italy or to be staying long term while Bianca heals. Accomodation and other expensises are costly here, especially near the hospital and in the city. We are also concerned about the fact that Bianca wont be able to work for quite a long time after she returns home.
I am calling in any amount of generosity from friends, family and wider communities. Every dollar will make a huge difference. Ive set the price high as biddy always aims high in life but anything raised will help so much.
All the money will be going to towards covering the flights for the family and the money spent on travel, medical bills and accomodation whilst Mon is in Italy.. As well as to support Bianca when she hopefully returns back to full health and to put towards anything she needs during the healing journey.
Your kindness is deeply appreciated and required at this time. Sometimes its hard to ask for help but I assure you it is very much needed at this time for these beautiful people.
Please share this with friends...
Thank you and lots of love.
