Big Apple Cafe Bacchus Marsh

Hello,

My name is Jodie and I am fundraising for our cafe, at the end of 2022 we had an intruder break into the cafe, the intruder attacked Meto the owner with a hammer to the head, and this resulted in a brain injury. The intruder was not known to us and was looking for money for drugs.

We have not been able to open since November 2022 and we have no income to pay our rent, bills, suppliers and some medical expenses. We thought we were covered with our insurance, but sadly we are not, we are not covered with work cover even though we have been paying for work cover, the business is under a sole trader ( we had no idea that the sole trader was not covered).

Unfortunately, any compensation that may be paid is 12 months away and we need to pay our landlord his rent, we have the electricity, phone, water bills, and other

basic living expenses and suppliers who are waiting patiently for their invoices to be paid.

Our cafe has been a beautiful place for the community and we have many regular customers who care about us and we care about them, we want to still be here when Meto gets well to have our friendly cafe open once again.

It is very hard for us to ask for this type of help, but sometimes you need to reach out for help, we would be very grateful for any donations, we know how hard people are doing it right now and we would not take anything for granted.
