Big Dog Rescue and Sanctuary
Donation protected
There is an unfortunate need more and more each day for safe and secure temporary homes for rescue dogs. The sad reality is that there are too many dogs and not enough homes. This is why a sanctuary for the unwanted seniors, emergency cases, and behaviorally challenged dogs is a necessity in order to help alleviate the over capacity crisis at local animal shelters and reputable rescues. This type of facility would serve as a “half-way house” safe haven for these emergency cases and help lessen the euthanasia rate that plagues city animals shelters in order to continue to make space.
It will give rescues an alternative option when they are inundated and out of room to be able to say YES to a dog in need of a safe place and not face euthanasia.
Spearheading this labor of love is a man that has been saving, adopting, fostering and rehabilitating the most misunderstood breed, pitbulls, for over 15 years. Reggie Slack has extensive experience of kennel management and dog handling. He himself is a proud owner of a varied pack of pitbulls and understands what is needed to keep these at risk, dire cases dog out of harm’s way.
The initial ask for startup seed money is to acquire a property that has ample acreage and a resident house so that there is onsite personnel at all times. Included in the initial ask is also to purchase appropriate fencing, lay foundation and drainage for where the large kennels will be placed and of course kennel housing for at least 20 dogs.
All purchase orders, invoices, receipts for proof of purchase will be available and made public.
Please consider contributing to this goal of creating a comfortable, assisted living experience for the less likely adoptable dogs that need a little more help than others.
