“Big” John Mattingly

My name is Chad Bedwell, a good friend of John Mattingly since High School. I’ve been given permission to share with you some information about John given to me by his wife Sherry and sister Laura.Friday 6/23/23 John visited the University of Cincinnati Medical Center emergency room because he had some swelling in his neck. After being admitted they found a large mass in his chest. It was determined at that time that it was likely lymphoma, and a biopsy was ordered. The biopsy was performed yesterday 6/29, at UCMC. After the procedure he began to have trouble with his breathing, so he remained on a ventilator. The large mass is pressing on his lungs and making it difficult to breathe. Currently 6/30, John is in the ICU. He is expected to remain sedated and on a ventilator until next week. Biopsy results are still pending, but treatment could start as early as next week to quickly shrink the tumor. They started him on steroids today. John is expected to be in the hospital for at least 1 month. This will obviously create emotional, spiritual, and financial hardship on the Mattingly family. I ask you to please come alongside me to support, pray for, and financially donate towards John recovery.
