Big Kid DJ Decks for the Whynauts

This is an opportunity to level up our sound and expand + grow our musical talent

 

What do we need?

USB compatible Pioneer decks (essentially professional-grade CDJ’s for 1/3 the cost) + protective case.

 

Donating, in this economy?!  Why should we donate?

1. [More Accessibility] To allow anyone with music on USB’s to plug in and play, including members who can't bring their own setups, DJ’s from other camps, more prominent names etc.

2. [Distribute Risk Fairly] To eliminate anyone having to risk their personal equipment vs. the playa, spreading risk among those who would benefit from it

3. [Learn to DJ] Since it would be camp-owned, we could allow it to travel between camp members, helping people learn/improve the skill

4. [Become a Pro] The setup is near-identical to standard professional setups enabling more DJ’s to be club-ready and art-car ready (imagine playing @ Robot Heart!)

 

How might we pay for it?

Ask the camp for donations, and split the remaining amount among the DJ’s

 

 

What are the risks and how might we mitigate them?

1. [Mid-high] Keeping it clean. The internet says this equipment is pretty bulletproof, with the play/pause buttons being the highest risk. We’d need to cover them up/put them away whenever not in use and clean thoroughly after with compressed air and maybe some tech-safe fluid

2. [Low] Keeping track of it post-burn / storing it. I’d bet someone will want to use these to practice/learn. Otherwise, we should put it in the storage unit
