Big O's Simply Delicious COVID Renovation
Donation protected
Thank you for giving Big O's some of your valuable time. We are located in Stephenville Texas and have been in business for 13 years and counting. We started in a small location downtown and now we are located right across from the university in a much larger building. Our core products are soups, salads, and sandwiches with a sweet variety of treats. Oliver and Sherry have been working at making Big O's a household name here in Stephenville and have been working towards expansion for the last couple of years.
As we all are aware Covid 19 came to all of our towns and has completely changed the way we do business if we can do business at all. Currently Big O's is closed as the number of cases surge in Texas and the County. This was a very difficult decision for a business owner to make, The bottom line and reason for closing until mid-August or early September is that there is a possibility of death related to the virus. Unfortunately Sherry is all too familiar with loss of life, she has lost both of her parents to non Covid 19 related illnesses, most recently her Father on memorial day to pancreatic cancer. Sherry and Oliver can not bare the thought of someone getting seriously ill and possibly loosing their life because it was unsafe in their restaurant. Sherry, "At least with cancer we had time to prepare and share with my father, with Covid 19 there is no way to tell who will get sick, how sick they will get, and it is sudden, one minute your loved one is with you, then they are in a hospital, and then you are planning a funeral without being able to say goodbye. I can't take the risk not only for the individual that could succumb to the virus but the impact that will have on their family. I just don't want what I went through to happen to my employees, customers and their families. The risk is just to great."
That brings us to the 'why' Big O's created a Go Fund Me account, and needs the help of its community. During the time of closure Big O's needs to remodel the dining room to make it safe for it's customers and employees. Big O's needs to have separation between its seating areas that not only separate but also cleans the air. Big O's would like to do this in a sustainable way and is collaborating with TSU to implement green spaces between the seating areas. This will enable fresher air and give customers confidence in safety while dining in the restaurant. In order to accomplish this Big O's is going to have to completely gut the dining room and bathroom areas to create a garden oasis that not only looks good but is good for the environment. Big O's is excited to grow some of its produce that will be used in the menu items on site, how cool would that be!
Between the seating, flooring, partitions, adding a bathroom, electricians, plumbers, city permits, and the 6 to 8 week time line, this is going to be expensive and we need your help to get us where you need us to be, open. Big O's is here and has been sustained by its customers, each employee knows how important you are to making Big O's a success. Oliver greets almost all of you by name and is happy to lend an ear, he dose this not because he wants to make a sale, it is because he cares about you and what is going on in your world. Both Oliver and Sherry enjoy serving the community, love their patrons and would be over the moon to create a Big O's that wouldn't have to shut down again.
During this time of shut down both Oliver and Sherry want to keep busy to make Big O's better for its customers. Any help with this you can give will be used to make that happen. Our gratitude in your helping, there really are no words for, but we can definitely show you when you walk through those doors on opening day. We are and always have been here to serve our community, and will continue to do so for as long as you allow us to.
