Big Papi's Kids

My name is Daniel Harms. I am currently in my 52nd year as Dean of Students at Lutheran HIgh School South in St. Louis Missouri. My career has been a blessing from God.

My avocation and passion if for a nonprofit called BIG PAPI'S KIDS. It was formed two years ago by a group of Christian men trying to be of service to some of the poorest children in the world. God placed us in a poor working community; Monteria Colombia. The average daily income there is $16 a day.

We support three families with children who suffer from disabilities. We also provide technology and tuition assistance to students ranging from elementary to university level.

We currently assist:

Mrs. Judith Moreno, whose son MIlan (pictured above), suffers from hydroencephalis.

Sandi Uruena, who is a university student, her sister Miriam and nephew Emmanuel, who has cerebral palsy.

Mrs. Stephanie Ruiz, whose daughter Nikole has severe dyslexia and aphasia. Also her youngest daughter Celeste suffers from RSV.

We assist these families with funds for education, technology, medicine, transportation, and food.

Our prayer and dream is to provide them with livable housing. They currently live in canvas shelters, dirt floors, no running water or sanitation.

Our long term goal is to get the parents and children training in work skills and education so that they can EVENTUALLY PROVIDE FOR THEMSELVES..
