Big Possum Stringband - Stolen Gear

Donation protected
Hey, friends! The Big Possum Stringband is back from our East Coast tour, and we had such a great time! A big thanks to the many dancers, musicians and listeners that came out to our shows and square dances; we really appreciate your support and enthusiasm.

While we were rocking out at the D.C. square dance (The Great American Square Dance Revival) , someone smashed out Tessa's car window and stole just about everything we had with us except our instruments (which we were inside playing). The thief made out with our backpacks, laptops, recording devices, clothes and medicine bags, along with so many other things that we’re still remembering we had in our bags. We filed a police report, but were assured by the officer that our chances of us seeing our stuff again was slim to none.

The items that were taken from us are all vital in our day to day operations, as well as our music endeavors. As a full time online computer science student, Tessa’s laptop and accessories are her lifeline for her academics. Her external hard drives not only had all of her childhood photos and memories, but her entire old time music collection that she’s compiled over the years. As an Ohio master artist, the loss of Henry’s Zoom recorder and all of his recordings impacts his current apprenticeship project that he and his student have put so much time and effort into.

We want to give a huge thanks to The DC Square Dance Collective and the Hamlin Street Diner gang, they were so helpful with this unfortunate event and did everything they could to assist us with whatever we needed. Thank you to the DC dancers who kindly gave extra donations once they had heard what had happened out front.

As working musicians, we don’t have much money to spare. Even with the kind donations and our profits from the tour, we’ve taken a huge hit and none of us are in a position where we can easily replace what has been stolen from us. Please consider helping us get back on our feet by donating if you can, and sharing our story with your friends. We’re happy to be a part of a living community of people that teach support and love each other, and we’re asking for some of your generosity now.
